REAP Associations Learn about Computer
Security
Kimberly Pate, adjunct instructor at Peru State College,
presented workshops on Internet Security to the Nemaha
County Business Assistance Team (NCBAT) and Richardson
County Business Development Association (RCBDA) in
October and November. Pate will be presenting to the
Otoe County Micro Business Development Association in
Nebraska City on January 9 at the Otoe County Bank
starting at 7:00 p.m.
Stressing the importance of understanding the risks
computer virus and spam mail have on the operation of
your computer, Pate described the different ways a
computer could become infected with virus, spam, and
spyware. She provided participants with links to sites
where computer users could download free software to
assist in protecting their computers and to rid their
computers of virus and spyware.
Preventive maintenance is the key to keeping your
computer safe; make sure you have good software
protection that protects your computer from virus’s as
well as spyware and spam mail. Pate has a Masters Degree
in Information Technology with an emphasis in Internet
Security.
